James Wilson Pope
Author of "Three Generations of Love: Special Edition"

Born in 1937 on a family farm in Avoca, Iowa, I grew up in the "cash n' carry" world where hard work and savings shaped every decision. At fifteen, after my father's passing, I became an instant adult—taking his job as janitor at the Macedonia Consolidated School to support my mother and sisters. By sixteen, I was working full-time as a hired hand on a farm, a role I held for four years before graduating and joining the U.S. Navy. I spent twenty-seven years serving aboard submarines, learning discipline, resilience, and the value of teamwork. After retiring, I transitioned to civilian life as a supervisor in a utility company's computerized maintenance department. At sixty, I stepped away from work entirely, embracing life with my partner of thirty-two years as we traveled the world, Today, I write not as a trained author but as a storyteller—connecting the dots of a life lived with grit, service, and wonder.
